This is my first forum that I have ever joined and I starting my first restoration project. My father has had a '77 Honda CB550K sitting in our shed for as long as I can remember. Now that I am older and have some cash I am decided that I want to get it running. This thing is in sweet condition!!! It has only 4700 miles on it!!
So here I am and I look forward to everyone's advice and I hope through my project I can maybe help some of you.

Welcome! So just how old are ya now then?? Sounds like some youthful exhuberance...lol
These bikes are a ton of fun and not too frustrating to work on...well except for the carb issues

I'm 23. I've been riding dirtbikes and working on them for close to 10 years. I have noticed that the bikes are pretty easy to work on. My old man did tell me that he had the bike running (probably ten or so years) just enough to get his license at the time. But it never ran great because of the carburetors. So my first task has been to strip the carbs down and clean all the gunk out.

Howdy. Nice to have you. Kick off your shoes & stay a while! Are you working on a spot on restore or adding some of your personal style to it?

Welcome; if the first thing you are going to work on is the carbs, a little advise would be to get some Yamaha carb. cleaner, best I have ever used, Dannie
