Hey Gang.
Well... To anyone following my "story" I will post a few updates. But first I want to send out a hearty Thanks to everyone on here for all of their well wishes. It has been a rough trip for the last few weeks. I would also especially like to thank all of my Portland brothers for visiting me in the hospital... Sorry you guys had to see me like that. Paul (paulages), Frank (whodareswins), Eric (Mr. Blasty), Mark (Mlinder), Brad (southbound) all came to see me in the hospital, and post on here. Thanks guys... anyone who has ever been laid up like this knows how much it means to have support.
Anyhow... Yeah Paul pretty much posted the details of my "accident" on the first of this post.
I just remember thinking... "is this guy stopping?" I started braking... then braked harder... it was too late. I skidded and then he hit me, I flew over the car and bike... helmet flew off... Langlitz jacket all scuffed up, and I couldn't move in the middle of the road. And all I could do was lay there thinking... f*ck... my favorite 400/f is trashed for good. And then... I could
So... paul took me to to the hospital and I stayed there for two plus weeks and three surgeries. Now the have let me "go home" ie... kicked me out of the hospital because I don't have health insurance.
Not sure what is gonna happen with all of the insurance crap... This is my first accident on a bike. I can't imagine they will give me what my bike was really "worth"... but anything will be nice to put towards another one.
I have retained a personal injury lawyer becuase of my medical bills... I am not sue happy, but I don't wan't the huge insurance companies laying over on me on this. This was not my fault.
Interesting note: my attorny told me that it was much harder to prove motorcycle related cases because... well simply because we ride motorcycles, and people consider them to be "reckless". What a crock of crap.
I have a huge cast type of thing on my leg that restricts my movement of my leg that I will have to wear at all times for three months, along with no load bearing on that knee. And after three months I'm not sure what happens, physical therapy? As of now I have no upward movement in my feet or toes which I am told hopefully will return after some of the swelling goes down in my knee/leg and quits strangling my nerves etc. I hope so... it will be difficult to shift otherwise.
Anyhow... Just wanted to say thanks to all of the friends I have made on here that have sent well wishes as well as offered parts to get my ride back up and running.
Guess I will have the long Portland winter to help me get my bike on the road, and hopefully finish my other 400 build that I was knee deep into at the time of the accident.
Thanks again guys... I will keep everyone posted on my recovery. And I will try and answer all of the PM's ASAP.
Cheers from Portland,
Billy
