Topic: I got hosed...

Four weeks ago I took my old oil hoses and fittings to a hose shop to have new braided lines installed and crimped.  I called last week and he told me that they would be ready this week.  I called him today and he told me that he is having trouble finding the right hose and that his various crimping machines won’t do small crimps like I need.  So basically he wasted four weeks of my time.  Now I need to find another hose shop.

I planned on putting the engine in the frame this weekend and getting everything ready to run the bike next week.  Is there some way that I can fit braided lines myself, minus the crimping?  Will hose clamps work without leaks?  And what size AN hose should I buy?  I was thinking AN8 would be best.

I don't know AN's equivalents but I used 1/2" ss. braided hose and the clamps w/ covers that look like flare fittings from

  It was a little pricey but cheaper than I've seen the same kind sold for.

Get your fittings back and make your own they are easy to make heres an example of the ones I made. oops forgot the picture.

You need 1/2 inch hose any good auto parts store will do I get the chrome clamps from a speed shop near my house.

  -8 will be fine. Big problem is finding the fittings....metric to AN sucks. Sorry to hear about your experience. I had to order a new oil cooler several days ago for the CB. I'll ask the man about your problem.  Good news...I'll have your boots out this weekend.

Why use overpriced AN fittings if it's not required. If this is a race bike then i understand for club requirments. You can buy braided hose on ebay that comes with covers that don't look bad
