MY 750 LIVES!!!! And some problems...
« on: August 31, 2007, 01:47:52 PM »
Got the 750 going today, and theres a few problems

Carbs are clean, like, perfect clean. But when i ride, and get on it, whether it be 1/2 throttle or full. It just spits and then tries to die. It just doesnt want to go good really. If I slowly roll on it, it does a lot better. But still doesnt run 100%. Fuel is new, filter is good, carbs are clean. Timing issue?

What year? And what do you mean by "It just spits?" Spits what, fuel, and from where?
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

if you are using points sounds like it could be an ignition timing problem, is the centrifugal advance/retard free to move also.

do you have pod filters on it? if so, and if you havent retuned the carbs to work with em thats likely your problem.

bought a spare engine w/great compression and stuck it in, ran a little rough and was blowing fuel back into air filter on #1 and #2.  thought about all sorts of HUGE PROBLEMS w/my new engine as i prepared to try the easy stuff first and adjust the valves.

intake valves were too tight on #1 and #2, runs strong like bull.   ;)

i'd adjust the valves per spec first thing.  good luck!

If you mean "slowly roll" to 75% - 100% and it does better, then I would suspect you have a late 70's, maybe early 80's 750 with accelerator pump problems.

If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
