92' NightHawk Shifting Woes!!
« on: November 14, 2007, 03:11:37 PM »
I have a friend that recently overhauled his 92' Honda NightHawk 250 Twin.

The only problem he's having, besides not properly breaking in the new engine, the bike will not go into any gears.

It just stays in Neutral, or he said it won't engage into any gears.

The only thing I could think of, is that the shifter forks or dogs have popped out of alignment, or that the shift drum is not properly installed???

Will he have to split the cases because of the problems he's having??

He asked me to post that last question : )

 Any help is much appreciated!

Many things could have gone wrong with that rebuild.  Could be something with the clutch, or the stuff you mentioned, or something else totally stupid!   But the bottom line is yes disassembly will be needed to find out.

Cases split??? Poor guy! He's going to feel pretty bad :(

Alright, thanks for the help. At least I received a reply.

There must not be too many people with this model.

Thanks,

Nope... most of the guys here have the SOHC 750, not too many with the DOHC 750.
