Shocks
« on: September 01, 2007, 09:56:03 PM »
I purchased these shocks in the hopes of cleaning them upp and having a set of piggy back shocks on my 74 CB750 Cafe project. The shocks need new seals. Does anyone know what they are from and if they can be rebuilt?
Thanks

I believe that some of the CB900fs also had shocks that look similar with the piggyback resevoirs.  These shocks are typically an inch (or more) longer than the stock SOHC ones.  Carpy seems to use them on some of his SOHC cafe's so you might send an inquiry to him.

You might want to give Works Performance or Progressive Suspension a call; I seem to recall reading about them rebuilding/revalving shocks back in the day.

If rebuilding turns out to be a dead end, you might be interested in the resevoir shocks being sold here http://www.vipexperformance.com/index.html for $200   At one point (a good while back) the fellow selling these shocks replied to a few questions on this board.  They look the part but I have no idea about the quality.  They are also longer than the stock SOHC CB shocks and have no adjustments for the dampening.
