Leaky carb
« on: September 20, 2007, 05:37:39 AM »
Hey guys I am getting pretty close to getting my '77 CB550K road worthy but I still have a couple issues to work out.  The one that has been bothering me is a leaky #1 float bowl.  When I let the fuel flow into the carbs the number one carb starts to drip out of the drain.

I was thinking that maybe it was the drain plug but then I took a plug from one that wasn't leaking and it kept leaking.  So I have it soaking in Simple Green hoping that there was something that was stuck in the drain that was preventing me from getting a good seal.  Any other thoughts?

You might want to look at the overflow tube, they crack sometimes.

If it's cracked you can fix it with some shrink fit tubing like this.
There are old bikers and there are bold bikers but there are very few old, bold bikers.

Not doing what you can to make your bike ride-able during the best riding months of the year kind of defeats the purpose of owning it in the first place.
