Hmmm, I just thought I'd keep an eye out for the correct fitting screwdriver. The seed was planted by a guy on ebay selling kits of correct J.I.S cross-head screws for sohc fours:

I've always assumed that the #3 JIT was similar in size to the #3 Phillips, but really I have no idea.

I just grind the tip of #3 Phillips slightly so drive 'wings' don't slip.
 Not ideal but easier than looking for the several JIS I've got stashed 'real safe' (OK, some people may say lost  ;D)

I got JIS screw driver set for Christmas. Rebuilding carbs are so much easier with them.  Of course if the screw heads are not buggered up by someone else already...

Drive size 1 covers M2-M2.6. Drive size 2 covers M3-M5 Drive size 3 covers M6-M8 drive4 is for size M10

A while back I was poking through a box of random cheap old tools at a second-hand store. Found a couple of '60s Honda wrenches, plus a plug wrench and screwdriver that looked about right. Screwdriver handle said VESSEL.

JIS impact driver bits +2 +3 +4 at VESSEL site.

They sell Phillips screwdrivers too - identified P1 P2 etc.

Quality tools aren’t cheap. But they can be cheaper if the cheap China tool breaks and has to be replaced (been there)

I got these off Amazon and use with my impact driver, or with a screwdriver using a socket (and a bit of tape if needed).
