What is your favorite “Dirt Bike Trick”

What is your favorite “Dirt Bike Trick”?

I always find it amusing when I ask someone a question about how to do something, they will give you the textbook way of doing it then they will give you the good old “Dirt Bike Trick”.  This recently came up when I was talking to someone about installing new grips.  I had bought some grip glue and was about to use it when a buddy asked me why did I waste my money when I could have just used some hair spray.

So, here are the two “Dirt Bike Tricks” I have and I thought it would be fun to hear some others.  Also, why the association with dirt bike as opposed to other bikes?

1.   Use Hair Spray to install new grips
2.   Use Duct Tape on the inside of a rim to protect the tub from the spokes.

I have a couple of dirt bike tricks.

Dont follow game or cattle trails, you will run out of trail on the side of a hill or run out when you cannot turn around and have to back uphill or a mile back!

Dont crash!

Those are my tricks!

I've got a piece of thick electrical wire acting as one of the hinge pins for my seat right now.  That seems to fit the criterea.

Seat cover !? Ooooh, the luxury! I use a bin liner and a pile of old bike magazines as a seat... ;) Just kidding, I believe another term for this is "shade mechanic" - theres some tips regarding timing and carb setup in the FAQ which are useful "Dirt Bike Tricks" allowing you to get things done at the side of the road without any special equipment!
