My first Honda was a 1972 CL175 which I had from '76 to '79.  For a short time I removed the high side pipes and made my own open pipes below the engine like on some Triumph choppers I had seen.  I put the stock pipes back on when I got the ticket for being too loud.  My first bike was a Yamaha 1964 YG1? 80cc which I had from '73 to '76.
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine
        2004 HD XL883C Custom
        1977 Yamaha XS750D (in progress)
Then 1972 CL175
        1964 Yamaha YGS-1T

Phil, what are we remembering, the big bore kit or Dixon Racing ? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

While I am in a daft mood I would like to add.....I noticed in your signature the clubs you belong to.

I'm glad you're not a member of the Tunbridge Wells Angling Team. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sam. ;)

Remembering anything would be good, these days  :D  :D  :D  :D

Tunbridge Wells Angling Team - love it ;D  ;D  ;D

1966 S65 brand spankin new, thanks Dad!! Still have it.

My first bike (wasn't streetable) was a little Jawa 50 that my another fellow had started on and my Dad finished it up. Originally, it looked like a moped but with no pedals and it was reworked to resemble a motorcycle. I've still got it too BTW. ;) Thanks to my Dad for that. ;) "I'll try to post a picture later"

                                       Later on, Bill :) ;)

First Honda was a Mini-trail Z50A.  I don't remember the year, but it was used and I was probably 6-7 years old, so early 70's probably.  I also had a #$%*ing orange metal flake open face helmet that was about 3 sizes too big and was warped from sitting in someone else's hot garage so that the side sections of the helmet bowed out about 25 degrees.  Okay, so maybe it wasn't so #$%*'n.   ::)

I used to ride it around our back yard.  My dad had an early model CB750K.  One day we went riding back in the farm land back behind our neighborhood that was just opening up into a development.  There was one area that someone had turned into a pseudo-motocross track and there was a large hill with probably about a 50 degree incline that bikes had been using as a jump.  Well, my dad sent me down it to come back up and I'll admit I was scared, but I was excited too.  I get to the bottom and turn around,  I rev the engine release the clutch and up I come... Unfortunately, my inexperience got the best of me and I shifted gears about half way up.  Oops!  I lose all momentum... bike stops in time... my eyes get as big as saucers and backwards I go, falling off and riding my helmet for the return trip to the bottom.  My dad was unfazed.  Tells me what I did wrong and to pick up the bike and do it again.  I did and MADE IT!!!  Nothing like suceeding at something that you don't think you can do... especially when you are a kid!

Then came the Honda SL70, the CB550K, the 550 Intercepter, the 600 Hurricane and the RC51.   ;D

My first Honda was a black 305 Dream that a friend gave me to repay a debt. I sold it when i bought the 750 in 1969. The Dream was probably a 64 or 65. It was...and still would be...a good starter bike...easy to ride.

My first ride on any motorcycle was on my sisters Honda C50 scooter in 1968 or 69. (I can't remember, so I must have been there, ha ha!)

Then in 1970 or 71, I was riding my bicycle delivering newspapers when I saw some aboriginal kids pushing a Honda QA50 minibike around their front yard, I stopped and asked them why it wasn't going, and they answered, "Dunno mate".

I said, "I'll swap you my bicycle for it" and they immediately agreed, so I pushed the little Honda away. I got about a block away and noticed that the wire had come off the ignition coil, so I re-attached it and gave it a kick, and away it went!

After that, I did my paper round on that little Honda, I wish I still had it, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I don't know if I'm old enough to post my first ride, since I'm a little to young. No offense to anybody ;D

In, 2003, my very first bike was a monster. A 1981 Honda CB650C with all the original goodies.

The bike weighed 450lbs. with a 145 pounder youngster!!!!  My pop and I were crazy to get me a bike that big for the first time.

He said, "Well, when you do get the hang of it, I don't want to sell the bike this year in fall !!!"

Sold the bike 3 years later, and I was able to ride and clutch the bike within 1 week!!!

There's a picture below, of the bike on it's way to a new home :'( :'( :'(
My rides:
75' 76' Honda CB400F Super Sports
86' Honda XR600R for Street Madness
84' Honda Interceptor VF500

Past Rides:
80' Honda CX500C Fully Dressed
81' Honda CB650C very nice!
83' Kawasaki KZ550 A3
78' Hondamatic 400 Hawk
80' 81' 82' Honda GL500 Silverwing Insterstate

L & L, I didn't post ANY age limit on this. You are one of US and have the right just as well. It wouldn't matter if it was 30 (or so) yrs ago or yesterday, as far as I'm concerned. BTW, nice 650 too, to bad it had to go. Thing is, you'll always remember it.

Ha ha, yeah, I guess I was wheeling and dealing back then Bill, but no, I didn't touch their bike, they were nice kids, just not real bright.

The government gave them everything back then, so a lot of us white kids from working families were envious of all the stuff they got for free, but I still had lots of black mates back then. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thank you Sr. Bill. ;D

I was a little worried they for a minute. I still wish I could find a decent cb750, but than again, I have to get rid of some of my current rides.
And I don't see myself doing that anytime soon :-\ :-\

And thanks for the kind words.

My pop is still slapping me behind the head for selling her. I called her Wanda!  **uncontrollable laughter**

Thanks

L&L, Listen, don't rush it, just keeps your eyes and ears open and perhaps the day will come when you'll have your decent CB750. ;) I only just got mine (even though it's a 750A & I'm not complaining mind you. just rather have a 5sp model) I also understand about not wanting to get rid of any either. ;D

Tell pop, we don't need any head injuries. :-\ ;D And perhaps, someday, there'll be another "Wanda" with time. ;) Take care guy.

Geez that brought back memories Daniel, I remember riding on the back of my mate Hughey Bowdens purple and white R5 when I was 14 or 15, he got it up to 105 MPH down a residential street with the two of us only wearing jeans and T shirts, (and no helmets) but what a brilliant bike!

Sadly the little Yam is gone and so is Hughey, he went under a semi on his Harley 20-odd years ago, but the memories are as clear as if it happened yesterday, or at least, maybe the day before...........  ;D

my first honda experience was getting rides on my brothers hawk back in the late 70's. my first honda was my 74' 750k, before that was several triumphs (i still miss the 68' bonneville) a bsa lightning and a norton commando 850. i'll always have a honda from now on.
