Honda Riders Club of America
« on: March 27, 2007, 10:05:20 AM »
Has anyone joined the Honda Riders Club of America?  Was pondering joining but I really don't know much about it and haven't heard anything.  My insurance gives me enough of a discount for being a member that it's almost free.  That's the only reason I really even know about it.
Anyone know any good or bad about it or even had experience with them?

Ive joined it the last 3 years, really for the breakdown service (which I havent had to use it - well tried with a friends bike but they only do YOUR bike). For $40 or whatever it is it gives me peace of mind if Im stranded somewhere.

cheers

I have more than 5 years with them, it's worth every penny for the protection.  Some of the other benefits have been nice, and the magazine isn't bad.

I joined at Daytona this year.  I guess you only know if it's worth it when you need it.

Just bought a membership for the roadside and towing.  The voice on the phone swore 24 hours isn't the response time.  If you pay $39.95 online, you get a temporary card and the coverage is immediate.  The online site is worthless unless you bought a bike from a dealer recently.  Ten years is recent, isn't it?

Unfortunatley, I already upgraded my AAA to something called RVPlus for $102, and it has a seven day waiting period.

The wife says she doesn't want to push any more.

I joined for a year, mainly for the road sevice, which I never used. The road service will tow you to the nearest dealer.
I took my son and went to MSF dirtbike school at American Honda in Ohio - an afternoon of lessons - my tuition ($50?) was reimbursed by HRC America - TERRIFIC. Red Rider magazine - okay. Access to Honda general service manual online. Gratuity - Interceptor pin - free at MC show.
My membership lapsed in August, dunno if i'll renew it again. I'm pretty sure you're given a years membership if you buy a new bike.

It's pronounced "triple a" and it's abbreviated for American Automobile Association.  Over 50 million members in USA and Canada. http://www.aaa.com

Yes, motorcycles are covered under the RV plan.

The neatest thing about triple a, is that it doesn't have to be your vehicle.  If you drive the biggest Rv you can find into the biggest ditch you can find, I can call somebody to come drag it out if I'm there to greet the tow.  But, I once waited four hours on a federal highway waiting for the tow.

I have three drivers and paid $229 US for the RV coverage.

I also have AAA+ RV. $49 a year and they will tow my car or bike up to 100 Miles free of charge.

The only thing that stinks is that if you are towing a trailer, they will tow the car or truck, but you have to unhitch the trailer and leave it.

I joined for the breakdown service.  My insurance won't provide it for a bike as old as my K8.
