cb650 front forks and brakes
« on: August 31, 2007, 07:14:28 AM »
Hi, I'm wondering if there any other forks I can use for my 1981 cb650 custom.  I'm thinking about rebuilding the forks, but its gonna be expensive (air forks).  I'm wondering if there are any other honda's forks that has dual brakes and don't have the air part.  I'm wondering if the more modern sports bikes fork will work?   Also I want to use slotted front brake rotors, if there is a bike that has them that will work.

Right now I'm in the process of putting new head gasket and having the head service.

Will have photos when I get this thing back together.

Thanks,

John

What makes you think putting new seals in the 81 650 forks is expensive? They come apart just like any of the others. Search for 650 frork threads as I have explained the procedure many times.

Do a search here or on the 650 site.  There was a thread about the difficulty of the 81/82 air forks.   Never done a set of them.  But do know the seals are the same and and the caps will interchange from the 79/80 forks.

Don't ditch the air-fork.
