Tach drive ratio
« on: July 13, 2005, 11:58:05 AM »
I've been looking at some aftermarket mechanical tachs on Ebay, but don't know my drive ratio.  Does anybody know the ratio on a 1970 cb750?

thanks

Joe

I think it's 4:1, what I do know though is that it's an unusual one not used on many bikes. If your looking for an aftermarket one you might be better looking for an electrical replacement. As long as it's one for a four cylinder four stroke bike you should be fine.
In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

It is 4:1 and it is used by some other bikes, eg early Suzuki . Do not use a tacho for the smaller Honda SOHC 4's as they run 20:3
SOHC4 #1909
Honda CB750 K0(original and unrestored), K1(in pieces), K2(restored), F1(restored), 76 750a (awaiting restoration), 1966 Honda CB72
Suzuki GT750 1972 (restored), Kawasaki Z1 1973 (restored)
