Years ago, I went to BYRON's place in central Iowa where he put on a model aircraft with model military ground battles on for show, as well as having a model builder's trade show all at the same time.  Quite the event.  It was probably 15 to 18 years ago when I was there.  They brought out a HUGE scale bomber, 4 engines (I can't remember which bomber it was) but any way, we watched it take off and make one complete go around, and half way through the second pass, it was "lost", and it fell from the sky.  Luckily, no one was hurt, but what a shame.  I heard it required two or three operators to get it airborne.  Awesome plane.
I tried the model aircraft hobby, but never got the hang of it.  Got a couple of ground pounders now.

A friend of mine just finished building a BEAUTIFUL 1/5th scale P38 Lightening. Air retracts, twin O.S. 4 strokes, flaps...the works.  He had about $800 in the plane, and it was huge, and crashed it on the second flight!

Brilliant! My dad was a "control line" champion back in the 1950's and 60's, and I still have my little "Taipan Trainer", but that B29 is the ducks nuts! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That plane was huge for an R/C! Looked really scale. Sound on takeoff was awesome!

My dad and I went to a R/C air show a couple of years ago where they were flying jets like these: They were amazing and expensive. I'd love to get into the R/C plane hobby, but my wife would kill me.  ;)

Totally cool!   Anyone who's built-flown model airplanes has to appreciate that video..and the efforts that guy put into the whole thing..including the X-1 !   I wonder how long he took to build that..and how many hours he put into refining his flying program?  Thanks so much for sharing that!  [Now I wonder what he could do with 4-SOHC-4 engines on one bike?]

The first bomber vid is awesome. That pilot was probably reinacting his kidhood memories, or young manhood job. Pretty cool.

I miss the local r/c airstrip that we had as a kid before it became a "residential nuisance".
Its a shopping mall now.... grrrrrr
