Yeah, how about some better pics.

I was expecting alot more rust.  If nothing else, you have some spare parts.

Perhaps a good spare engine, or one to rebuild for your current ride so when your engine gets tired, you can just drop in the new one.

I've got a line on a couple SOHC's in a guy's back yard.  I didn't pursue the details(that would drive me insane if the 750 is something special -"I'd like to sell a kidney please"), but he said there was a 550 and a 750.  I have to wait until I have some spare money so I can have cash in hand when I go.

Good find.

the engine and heasders look ok

but i'd say the tank is history

Stock is where it's at.  Cafe is alright, but it's the stockers that give me a boner.  And by "give me a boner", I do mean "arouse me sexually".  Seriously.  LOVE '70s bikes.

+3  I think some of the cafe's look kinda stupid, sitting between the tank and a bubble on a 2x4 not my idea of fun or comfortable

From the teaser shots (barely a nipple), it looks pretty good for coming from the field.  Looks a lot better than I was expecting.  If it makes you feel better I would have grabbed it too.  If nothing else, it has lots of good parts that you can use or sell.

Good lord, man.  I just paid 250 bucks for a bike that is in WORSE condition than that (rust).

Me thinks you got a good deal.  It's a PROJECT, right?  So what it looks like in the beginning isn't all that important.

Ok, I have many more pics of the $50 field find but I cant seem to figure out how to post them. I cant even open the two pics I did manage to post.  Is there some resource in the forum that describes how to size, post, and preview the pics?  I am starting to gnash my teeth over the posting pics thing..

;D [what have I found?]  take it back to the field where you found it.  Leave it there, for the next sucker. You have found a black hole to throw your money down into. Oh wait, in a black hole, nothing comes back out of it. At least you will eventually have a $500 bike, after spending $1000.  Or something like that. (I have quit keeping my receipts).

Gee I am not sure about the $500 bike after seeing some the rough excuse cb750 stuff on ebay go $1500 and up.  If I manage to get this thing moving under its own power it would seem more valuable.  I am not giving up my daytime job however.  Its a hobby, its a hobby, its a hobby...

She looks rebuildable, to me. Nothing there some elbow grease can't straighten up, and with 17K on the clock, there's a good 60k left in there. Get a complete gasket kit and go inside, clean it up, let 'er rip!

Don't even compare prices on e-bay.  Search craig's list if you're going to look at prices online.  I see junk go for way more than it should all the time on e-bay.  A good place to sell but forget about buying a whole bike there.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just tell me where it is & I'll pick it up.

I won't charge you for it & it'll be out of your hair.
