Good things can happen from bad things 1981 650 rebuild
« on: September 14, 2007, 10:41:11 AM »
Hi, I'm still workning on my 1981 Honda 650.  I just got my new head bolts and was in the process of reinstalling the head.   I set the torque wrench for 8 for the first pass thru then increasing it until I reach 18 foot pounds.   Well my torque wrench is defective becasue I snapped the head bolt right off.  I was the last bolt.   As I was fumming big time, I removed the head and the main cylinder juggs.   I noticed that my #4 cylinder had some deep marks on them.  So its to needs to be honned and new rings.  I'm dropping them off to the shop today.

The question I have Can I still reuse the head gasket and its bolts (its brand new and I never start the motorcycle, Or should I get another one anyways.

Thanks,

John
