Thanks for the all the kind words on the Duke.
I survived the "Midnight Collide" last night which ended up being about a 120 mile ride out west. I got some much needed seat time (and breakin miles) on the bike, which is mainly why I wanted to go.

I am torn if I should keep the little fairing or not. Eventually I will take it off and see how I like it. The main goal now is to rack up some more miles so I can get my exhaust and open clutch cover on the scoot, and ditch the party tray fender deal-e-o...

No need to be jealous guys, thats why this country is so great !
You can have/own anything, as long as you can make the payments  ;D

My exhaust and clutch cover are still on order  :-\ As of today I have 310 miles on the bike and climbing. Once this rain passes I plan to have the needed 600 by next Monday, as I am gonna ride the piss outta this thing this coming weekend. I will post some new pics once I get some parts on..

I only financed $2,500 and I am doubling up the payments so it isnt too bad. I wouldnt get myself into huge payments again (dont that before - not worth it)..

Just got back from a quick blast down in to the city and back. The weather tonite is PERFECT, so I had to take advantage. The bike cruises the same at 35 as it does at 85 (which is scarry). I def. need to make that thing louder (and will when my pipes get in from Italy ::))..

I got to ride the smaller Monster, an 800 ? I think, it belongs to a friend. I think it was a 04, 05, having only rode 2 stroke dirt bikes and in line 4 street bikes, it was a unique experience and the ride is awesome.

Being an older guy he wanted me (a younger guy who rides sport bikes) to take it out and run the crap out of it and tell him what I thought. I just didn't have it in me, I never even hit the rev limiter it was just so civilized... ( and not mine)

But you have pipes coming to address that small problem, Awesome bike, BE SAFE.

Project Ducati is going very well for only having it alittle over two weeks.
So far I have a lowering link for the rear, CRG mirror installed, ditched the stock fairing, intergrated run/stop/turn LED board in a clear lens, new led blinkers for the front, stainless open dry clutch cover, etc. I am still waiting on my "off road" exhaust kit from Ducati. Once that shows up it is straight to the dealer for it's 600 mile service and to get the pipes put on and tuned.

I will get some pics up once the bike gets lowerd and starts looking alittle better...

Here's the latest pics of the new scoot. I ditched the stock fairing up front, ditched the mirrors for a 2'' CRG bar end, and bought a open clutch cover off my buddy for $20 ! Today I broke out the sawzall and chopped off 5'' of the rear section to install my "plate chop" kit. Also got an intergrated LED board for the tail light, which does run/stop/& turn functions all in one (pretty sweet eh ?)

Compare how the bike looked stock --->

To it's current look ---->

Here's how the stock rear section looked --->

To how it now sits (after a few hours) --->

Next on the list is to get my exhaust kit (comes in this week), and take it to the dealer for it's first service. Their they are gonna install the exhaust/Race ECU and filter, lowering link, get rid of the emissions crap, and so on. I have new turn signals coming for the front (super small LED deals), and once I figure out what Clip-on's I want I will order those as well...

I have had it three weeks, have over 1000 miles on it, and it's finally starting to look good !

Here are some current pics of Project monster --->
New/smaller/led turn signals (that have LED's on both sides for better visability -->
I removed the stock exhaust to see how I liked it (i love the way it sounds), plus I am really diggin the open wheel look. I think I am gonna ceramic coat it black and figure out some cool exhaust tip Idea and leave it --->
My "chopped" rear with Intergrated LED board/clear lens --->

I still need to make some time to get the new smooth top tree and clip-on's mounted up, along with the lowering link that has been sitting in my room for two months. I also have a 14T front sprocket to install (to replace the stock 15T)..

Stay tuned  ;D

From what I have herd from others who also removed their pipes, the bike is safe to ride.
The bike was poppin like crazy (on decell) last night, but I was told that the computer "learns" the new system over time and the popin clears up. Not that I mind it (sounds like a racebike in my opinion)..

Now I need to get my new clip-on's and smoothed top tree on their, fab up some new/cleaner headlight mounts and some other little tricks I have in mind for the scoot...

It's crazy how different the bike's look has changed from stock -->

To how it looks (2 months later) --->

Hi Proteal,
  Love the work your doing. Especially the cafe'd CL450!!1 ;) ;) :o :o :o

But something was bugging me, and I couldn't think of a resolution. So what I'm asking is, could you give us all a ballpark figure of how much you spent on parts??

It's really getting to me ;D

Cause I've asked at my shop for an exhaust system from FMF, for my Motard XR600, and I was quoted..... get this....... $450!!!

And that doesn't include headers!!!

That's about half for what I paid for the bike.

And lastly, please update us with pics of the Duc, and what would really be cool, is a video clip with sound of the exhaust note!!!

The tail light is stock dimensions (for the monster) with a intergrated led board from a company called "clear alternatives". It has red LED's for running and brake, and then splits with amber LED's for turn signals (pretty snazzy)...The stock lens is red, but I went with a clear one to help show-off the LED's..
PLEASE.....get rid of those chicken strips......[img]
I have absolutely no friggin clue what you are talking about ?

I have around $1,200 in parts into this project (including the purchase price of the bike). Every stock Honda part that was removed or not used was sold on Ebay or this site, and that money went back into the project to buy parts I needed/wanted. I have TONS of hours of labor into this bike to get it where it is today. The subtraction of the sidecovers was the biggest project, and just sitting around the bike throwing ideas around took lots of time as well. The exhaust took about a week of fabbing up before I was happy with it, then another hour or so to wrap it (was SUCH a pain in my ass with the pipes being so long). But all in all the bike came out nice and tight. I actually just got back from the post office, as we re-made the battery tray (broke the 1st one). I wanna get some miles on the CB450 before it gets too cold out..
And lastly, please update us with pics of the Duc, and what would really be cool, is a video clip with sound of the exhaust note!!!
I am trying to keep the Ducati's progress updated the best I can. The only real things left I have to do to it is install the clip-on's and smooth top tree and lower the bike 2'' or so. Besides that I really don't have any other plans for it except to ride the hell outta it as much as I can. I will get together a video of me blasting down my street for you guys to checkout in the next couple of days. With the open clutch cover and open exhaust it makes to be a "intresting" sounding bike  ;D

I think he's busting your chops about the rear tire.  You can kind of tell how far a bike has been leaned over by how much wear is on the sides.  Virgin rubber on the tire's edge = chicken strips.  If you do a lot of riding in the city it's hard to get rid of 'em.  You'd have to be dragging stuff in the corners to scuff a tire all the way across.

This is what modern rubber is made to do.  Somebody was having fun on this one...
