If it is like the ones on my 550 then just use two spoons as levers.  Mine popped right off with no problems.

Swoop...how did you get the back off?  It looks like my KO has some sort of caulk seal holding the tach on.  I also wanted to get under my speedo glass and there is a plastice ring on the bottom that looks like it may break if I mess with it.  So I lubed the gear and put it back together.  Have you ever removed the speedo guts from the plastic and glass housing?
