RE Sprocket sizes 550
« on: June 05, 2006, 04:16:34 PM »
Hello
Im interested in replacing rusted spokes with cast wheels, they look so good!
I'd prefer a replacement from another honda because this is a bit of a budget bike.

EDIT: after looking around Ive found somone that used a 78 cb400t front end and spacer/shim in the rear. I'd like to keep the 550 front end if possible. Can I just simply buy a new sprocket (37t) on a mag wheel?

Ive been attempting to use http://partsfinder.ridenow.com/fiche_select.asp?vcc=Motorcycles&mfg=Honda&year=1977
to locate a year with appealing cast wheels with the right sprocket but Im feeling like a blind guy searching for the honey pot.

Any info on what model/year cast wheels will fit the 77 550?
Thanks

None directly but anything is possible if you have machining facilities. Comstar, in my opinion, are the biggest heap of crud going
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Comstars are better than spokes any day as far as function goes. People just do not like the way they look. At least most people do not. After all, there is a reason why spokes are not used in racing, even back when the comstars came out.
