Phew, had some time to decompress after todays exhilarating ride
Here's what it was like to meet the Headmaster. Mike was in town for a brief family vacation, so between the wife, kids, and old friends we found a window of time to meet up late Friday nite, after his tour of Alcatraz Island. 9:20pm I get a call and we're set to meet in San Francisco at the Pig & Whistle on Geary. WooHoo, I'm geared up and heading across the Bay Bridge at 90mph and into San Francisco
I head out Geary towards the ocean and after a bit I reach the Pig & Whistle. There is some guy out front with a grin on his face. We've never met, but I know him and he knows me. "I figured it was you, I could hear ya comin' " Mike says
Outside I meet Mike and his old business partner Dan, which was an unforseen bonus as I had never met a Korean with a thick "Bah-stan" accent before. I get to show him the Sumbich as it stands and pepper him with questions about the CR's he sent me and compare notes about the Dyna 2000(actually, I didn't really have to ask him much since the guy really enjoys talkin' bikes), then it's inside to a comfy barstool and cute, barely legal Guiness Stout promotion girls.
Can't say what all we talked about over the next few hours but it was certainly 90% bikes. It's funny how sometimes you can sit down with someone you've just met and it's like getting together with an old friend you haven't seen in awhile. Of course, Mike and I have been trading mail and parts for the past few years so were not strangers at all, but I left that night with the feeling I had just hung out with a buddy that I would see again soon.
So Mike, again, great to meet ya. See ya again soon
