Impossible to find Side Covers
« on: September 17, 2007, 02:03:08 AM »
We all know it.  The after market plastic side covers are not easy to find, but when you do they are usually somewhat reasonably priced.  Vintage side covers are practically priceless artifacts and you freakin need Indiana Jones to get them for you from the clutches of the savages living deep in the jungle.

With that said, side covers (aftermarket, vintage, or otherwise) for my '78 CB750F SuperSport DO NOT EXIST! Anywhere.

Yet, this one website (www.cmsnl.com) which I finally found on the 8th or 9th page of the Gooooooooogle search page says they have 3 aftermarket ones.  They are $100+ each, but I found them without enlisting Indiana Jones' help.

Anyway, it's a cool site with Microfisch built right into the page and fairly natural navigation around their site, IMHO.  So if they have side covers for my bike, they might just have that impossible to find part for your vintage bike!  Give em' a try --> www.cmsnl.com

The links you guys have been posting are the best news I've had since I put the Dyna coils and ignition in my bike this past winter.

Since starting this thread, I've seen more side panels for my bike in the past 24 hours now than I have in the 2 1/2 years I've been searching since I bought it.

Thank you everyone for your help, I appreciate it tremendously!

I've added a section in the FAQ for Repro Side Covers.

Hopefully, no one will have to search for so long in the future!

If anyone wants a 78 CB750K electrical side, side cover, I have one, its original, one slight crack which can be fixed, its maroon color with the original emblem. I'm going to post it on parts for sale for 55 bucks

Look at the back. If the base plastic is white-ish, they are original. If black, repros.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.
