Carbs finally done

Well I finally got my carbs cleaned & fitted with new carb kits. had the carbs completely disassembled, they were a mess.  Visually I think they turned out good, mechanically not pleased got some adjusting to do, think I went too high on main jets for some reason I started with 120's.

Bike is a 73' Cb500k The set up I've got running is a  carb body 069A from my 550, 4-2 exhaust, pods, 120mains, 40 slow, needle set second from top, Air screw 1-1/2 out. Starts up quite well, Idles a bit rough,gotta get that set. Acceleration poor at start but Will have to take a few more test runs and check the plugs to be sure. Probably rich. Awaiting delivery of a carb synchronizer to take care of that.

Boy they are looking good, doing the same job on a spare set for 750 at the moment so I can see how much work has gone into them.

those look great.  Did you paint the carb bodies?  If so with what?

Your probably alittle high on the Jetting.  Stock in the 069A was a 98 Main.  120 is probably abit high for pods and a 4-2. 

I'm rebuilding a set of 069A's also.  Great job

 :D Hey those are looking great! I've got to do the same on my little 200. What are you using to clean them? I've some spray carburetor cleaner and small wire brushes. Do you think it will be enough?

 I stumbled across the paint by accident actually, I had completely disassembled the carbs soaked bodies on parts washer and used a combination of tooth brushes and small paint gun cleaning brushes which also have a needle thin wire to make sure all the little holes are clear.
 The bodies were painted first with Duplicolor Ground coat which gives a nice metal sparkle coat, Then I went with the Duplicolor Chrome,which actually looked fantastic, but I noticed it picked up finger prints and such easily so I thought a couple coats of Clear coat would solve that but when I sprayed it the Chrome turned grey and after a few curses I took a second look and kinda liked the way it turned out so I sprayed a few more layers of clear.

 I did the float bowls the same way and polished up the top caps.
  Will be going down to a 115 main see how it goes.
