CB500 Dyno cover removal?
« on: September 18, 2007, 10:32:14 AM »
I've noticed on other CB's [Namely the CB550's] that the thin sheet metal cover that say's "Honda" on it has three screws in it.  My 1973 CB500 does not have these three screws.  I just received the finned covers [Yes, they are for a CB500] has three screws, so I guess the three screws are under the cover plate on my CB550.  How does it come off on mine?  Do you take off the larger aluminum cover and get at it from the inside?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Mark

Well...  I looked at the manual that I have in PDF format, and it shows the screws in behind there in the exploded view, but it still doesn't say how to get the cover off.  I wonder if you just pry it off with a screw driver tip?

Mine screw directly into the chrome cover.  I'm afraid I can't help there.  I have a 72.  Maybe something changed between years?

Well...  ohn stopped by and we were talking about it and I just went over and pried the thing off with a flat head screw driver.  It just pops off and the three screws are under the cover. No biggie.
