sidestand!
« on: July 12, 2005, 02:23:03 PM »
All, at long last I hope your good selves will be able to provide a return on all the advice I've provided....
Some years ago the sidestand on my K7, the legendary Black Pig, shuffled off its mortal coil and as this was MANY years ago my Honda dealer provided one that tho wasnt right did EXACTLY the same job and fitted precisely. Anyway, now IT has died and have found Master Silver has a K8 one in stock....tho NOT a K7 one.....
Can anyone tell me if this is or is NOT a straight replacement??? will it fit my K7 bracket, im not looking at something stupid like the spring mount on the wrong side of the stand or anything????

TIA
Phylo

I have no idea which sidestand you need but I do have a few different ones in my pile of parts, if someone can help with identifying what yours should look like. I'm curios though, I've been riing for 22 years now and have never had to replace a sidestand, what the hell do you do to them? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

I can see replacing the RUBBER toe of the kickstand but not the stand itself. Well from all I have seen a K8 and 7 are about the same. A kickstand or even center stand should fit no problem.

Ahem...orignal cast item was shortened when I ran solid struts for a year or two, and the replacement was a tubular item, the leg wekded to the top boss. It wasnt the tube that was weak.....the weld fractured!!!
