Project 'X' Update - Total Self Indulgence
« on: July 13, 2005, 08:11:59 PM »
Y'all may remember my "Bought at a Yard Sale CB750 Project X" posts from back in the Greenspun days.  Well, back in October I disassembled a perfectly running CB750.  Yes, I lost my mind.  I had no clear plan of what the hell I wanted to do with this old Honda.  I stumbled across a Vintage Tracy Body that allegedly fit my CB.  Well....  It almost fit.  As the months passed and I scrubbed and rebuilt the top end of the power plant, I would still scratch my head looking at the ill-fitting body perched upon my dipped and painted frame (see first pic).  As the weeks turned into months, I finally decided to "make" the damn body fit.  As summer went into full swing here in New England, every make and style of motorcycle would pass me, mocking me while I was still cutting, glassing, bondoing, sanding and measuring the Satanic fiberglass body.  In total self-indulgence, I am actually close to bolting the motor back onto the frame.  I will finish and ride this spawn of the devi.  lI may leave tracks in the snow, but dammit, I will finish and ride this spawn of the devil.  Sorry for the novelette.  I'm actually optomistic.

I still lament the demise of your GSXR "Shark Bike", that was pure EVIL! What style are you planning for the 750, "flat tracker"? That'd be my choice. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
