clutch safety/neutral switch...

 ok,so i've been working on my 78 750K and i found in a few old posts that you can in fact bypass the clutch safety switch by connecting the "two" wires, but my question is, which wires r u connecting?

right now i have only enough wiring to start the bike, but the one wire I"m not using is the green w/ a red stripe that comes from the starter solenoid, which goes to the clutch switch... by just disconnecting it does nothing i assume? I'm not sure, and as far as a "start button it would need to be a normally open (NO) switch correct? just b/c otherwise the start would try to stay on all the time...

I'm alittle lost as you can see but I'm sure someone out there knows how to fix this small problem

I don't have a wiring diagram for the bike handy, but I think a '78 has switched power to the starter, using the starter button as a headlight defeat when starting. If so, the interlock is on the ground side. The green/yellow wire goes to the clutch switch which completes the ground connection when the clutch is disengaged (lever pulled in). It also goes to a diode connected to the neutral switch, letting the starter motor work with the clutch disengaged or the transmission in neutral - avoiding having the bike leap forward when starting. The diode is just to isolate the clutch switch and neutral switch circuits, to have the interlock work like it should without a diode the neutral light would go on whenever the clutch lever is pulled in.
So if you want to eliminate all this safety stuff, just connect that green/red wire directly to ground - any green wire or the bike frame.

ok, thanx, thats helps a bunch, now if its alright, i have come up to another prob....

with the ignition on, i have 12 volts at the regulator, black to ground, but i only get about .2 volts at my "main switch" yellow w/ red stripe (from solenoid), and black (from regulator), is there something extremly wrong? or are you not supposed to get very many volts to the main switch?

see my problem is, when i turn the key to  ON, nothing happens, but as soon as i turn it to the middle position, I can see the voltage regulator move its little arm and touch the other contact, but nothing happens?
