You know Folks, I had hoped that I could contribute something here, that you all could post on and enjoy checking out photos and stories from back in the day. And it has done well, so it seems and I am glad to have been able to give you all a place to do this sort of thing. Thanks For Looking And Participating.   Bill

Here is a few pics of some of my brothers bike from the seventies, and I think one with me on my 750 back in 1975.
Sorry for the fuzziness...

Were they XL Hondas Frank ?

And can you imagine how much that Beetle / Bug / Coccinelle would be worth these days (if intact).

But we all did stuff like that back in the day, with scant regard for the future.

Thanks for sharing.

Silver XL 250. And the XL 350. Red on tank..
Not sure of the year of the bug,  but never. Drove on the road..spent lots of time on its side.  I think he paid 100 or 150 for it.

Are both pics of the same bug? Hard to date the baja on the right, but the rear window is post 1957. The white bug on the left has front turn signals that make me think '63ish, but I don't remember for sure, and some changes spanned a few years. I put my "'61" squarely on it's fabric sun roof once. :o I put the '61 in quotes because the front half and the back half came from 2 different cars, welded together right behind the front seats. ;D

It's the same bug, Dad is beside it in the right hand picked.
Mike used to drive it a lot in a nearby cowpasture, and do handbrake turns..often flipping it.
Those pics though are probably. In 73 when we moved up near the orchards..
He would ride those XL,s in the lake as deep as in the pic, just about up to the seat.. Poor bike..

Cool that you have a pic of your dad playing with you guys, or was he pissed off because you rolled it?? We used to adjust one parking brake cable tight, and the other loose, so you had "steering brakes", but only in one direction. ;D

I dont think he was really upset..maybe more, what do we need to use to get it back on the wheels. It was like 3 doors down from our house on a sideroad.
Because Mike bought and paid for it, he was probably glad the family Chevy Wagon was no longer being abused..

If no one was around in the orchards, it was like tryouts. For the Dukes of Hazzard show..

Just looked through Franks pictures and read the comments and that is pretty cool stuff. I had intended this for motorcycles and stories, but I should have included cars and trucks as well, because they ALL play a part in our lives. Great photos Frank and I totally enjoyed hearing about how you all "Enjoyed Life", as a Family. I hope others will feel free to post up here and include photos and comments like Frank's.

My 1969 CB750 was stolen while serving in Vietnam USMC so i bought a 73 CB350 until 74 when i also had my 1st son and my new 750.
these two 76 CB750's I still own plus my old and new BMW's
Also I met my wife in my custom built 64 4X4 Ranchero HiPo 289 --  I build Cars for a Hobby and this was one of my 1st builds

Edited - this was my 1st Motorcycle - a Yamaguchi 50 and the bike i had to sell to stay alive .  Had no self control on the Busa and it was so streamlined speed didn't register very well and i did stupid stuff . Now the K10 is my sewing machine smooth daily rider and grocery fetching machine.

I've already posted this in another thread in the open forum but Bill440 liked it so much he recommended I copy and past it here as well so here it is.

There's a big age gap between me and my 3 older brothers, they spent their teens in the 60's muscle car era and me in the 70's early 80's so when I was a kid I was surrounded by something high performance that any of my brothers owned from SS Nova, turbo Corcvairs or our Uncle who had a 70 Shelby GT500. My brothers had their fair share of bikes as well from Nortons to Kaws while all I could think about was cars. Bikes actually scared the hell outta me, maybe it was because of one too many scary rides with my brothers riding their H2's. I remember riding with one of them when some goof on a 650 decided to tangle with my brothers H2 at a stop light, my brother told me to hang on so I wrapped my arms around him tight as the light turned green and that H2 stood it's front end up and away we went with me hanging on and praying "please God I promise to be a good boy....." dispatching the 650 in the process. I've posted this pic once before here and I think it's circa 1972 at Bonneville, I'm the kid with the mini bike and the guy in the black leathers is my oldest brother. Can't give you the specs on his bike other than it started out life as a 60 sumtin Kaw 250 rotary valve 2 stroke twin with expansion chambers he built himself.

some really good memories we all have from our bikes.
this one i just found of my CL350 that i used to hunt the swamps with.
it could get into places a truck would not go " pine trees " etc and this day i brought an 8 point buck home kind of slow down the highway because hooves were dragging and people were ether giving me the thumbs up or the middle finger as women hid their children's eyes and the little Honda chugged on down the road without a complaint .  these were great bikes

In the beginning...
Me on my dad's CB350 back in the days when I could sit up front and hold the tank as we rode without being turned in.
