Hey guys
I own a 1987 Honda CBX 650 E
Identical to this one but a different color scheme
http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_cbx_650_e_1987.phpSince its a bike I have imported from Germany (I'm from Denmark) it has had its effect reduced to around 50 bhp. (quite common in Germany due to insurance prices on 50+ bhp bikes)
Does anyone here know how a 1987 cbx 650 E is reduced? I know of three different common types of reduction method.
1. Different camshaft/s I sincerely do not hope this is the case as I wouldn't like to take apart an enginge running that sweet.
2. Limited throttle travel in carbs (this should be a simple manner of pulling out a few discs from the carb in order to allow more travel in the carb)
3. plugged exhaust pipes, (these should be either changed or drilled out.)
How would I identify the method of reduction in my bike?
Im currently planning on removing the ugly square headlight/dash and replace it with nice round ones. This will of course reguire some changes to the wiring of the bike. Does anyone know where to find a diagram for my bike. Im not quite sure if the CBX 650E and the CB650SC is the same bike they are both nighthawks but in my papers its only mentioned as a honda 650 so no help there..
Any knowledge on these bikes would be appreciated..
Im planning turning it into a cafe bike. Going to add clubmen bars, cafe seat (homemade) new side panels, an a much more simple wiring (Lots of things I dont need, I need the bike to run, charge, all the lights, and two indicators, oil pressure, and neutral) Everything else can go.
Ill post some pics of the progress when there is some :-)
