Question about replacing pistons on 78 750K
« on: September 25, 2007, 10:05:23 AM »
If I have to replace my old pistons and rings on my 78 750K, can I just use stock/NOS pistons and rings and not have to worry about reboring/rehoning cylinders ?

You have to check the cylinders for out-of-round, scoring, wearing.
Throwing in new pistons and rings without doing this is not a good idea.
No.

Yeah you have to check to see how worn things are. I mean there has to be a reason you are replacing the pistons right?

New rings need "glaze bust" or lightly honed bores
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
