why don't they call them... ?

handlesbar?  i really only see one bar there.  if they are clipons,  so be it.  they would be clipons but, shouldn't handlebars be a handlesbar?

A single handlebar IS a handlebar.
When you say handlebars, you are referring to multiple handlebars.

Your bike only has one handlebar on it.

It's just a common mistake (which I make, too) to call a single handlebar handlebars.
