Total weight and weight distribution of cb750
« on: September 26, 2007, 06:59:46 AM »
Been trying to figure out the slight wobble I have at high speed. Weighed the bike and got 460 lbs total with 240 at back wheel and 220 on front. Anyone now what the stock weight distribution is? I am thinking being light on the front is causing my problem.

Well, what do you know. Its in the manual. Total weight for a k model is 517.3 lbs and distribution is 271 L and 209.5 R . I assume the L is the back and the R is the front.

I would think it would be the left and the right of the bike.  Measured from the centerline.  You could test my theory out by standing the bike straight up using a plumb bob and then letting the bike fall over.  Which ever side it fell over on would be the heavy side.   ;D

Rims out of true, worn steering bearings, low tire pressure, loose brace?
I have a slightly noticeable wobble at 110mph+ :/ course, my forks are slightly screwed.
No.

Rims are new, checked for tightness. New tapered steering bearings, double checked. Tire pressure is good. Has a cbr600 front fork on it. It runs true in a straight line just does it mid corner.

These bikes are a little more tail-heavy than anything modern.  My 400 still has about 15 more lbs. on the rear than the front, and I've made a lot of effort to lighten it up and shift the weight forward.

I would think 220 lbs. on that CBR fork would be plenty to keep it planted, but maybe it needs to be re-valved for it's current application.  Maybe the rake of the CB's frame vs. the CBR's makes a difference?

Its possible. The rake has come out about the same as the CB since I lowered the rear a little, the trail is much less though. What I think is strange as straight line stability is great. There are few others with a similar conversion, but they aren't finished yet or I haven't seen anything about how they handle. As far as I know I'm the only one that used wire wheels with this setup, could be causing a problem too.
