New 72 cb500, only firing on 1 cylinder
« on: September 29, 2007, 05:04:10 pm »
Just baught a 72 cb500 for my wife, this thing is perfect. Not one single divet in the chrome. Actually I'm kind of jellous. The only problem is that the bike only fires on one cylinder. Before I tear into it does any one have any ideas. I get fire to all four plugs but only one of the pipes is getting hot. So I'm thinking it is only getting gas to that one cylinder.

Check the carb bowl drains to see if all carbs are getting clean gas.

If so, then go after the slow jets.  Tiny holes only 0.016 inch in diameter plug easily.
This can be done on the bike, with commensurate mechanical prowess and the right length screwdrivers.
