Help Needed on Oil Tank Hose Routing - 1978 CB750K
« on: September 26, 2007, 11:09:55 AM »
Guys, I have a friend who is trying to put together his 1978 750K and can't figure out the oil lines (returns and vents). My book and bike are of no help since mine is a 1974 K4 and the tanks are different. His has some kind of filtering box on the head cover that mine doesn't have. His also has a small vent or supply line going to the bottom of the tank - all of mine are entering at the top/back side.

A diagram or website link would be very helpful and greatly appreciated - please.

Thanks,
Gordon

upper/front oil line is longer and goes to forward fitting, lower goes to rear fitting.  can take pics tomorrow a.m. if it's not raining.  bibkebandit.com has pics under "crankcase"

The small overflow pipe on the inside, bottom of the tank is what the lower crankcase breather tube connects to(short rubber hose, just long enough to make the connection).

Not sure what the filtering box on the head is about. There is an emissions filter mounted under the battery box, could that be it?

The K8-F2 750 manual is somewhere on this site, pretty sure. There are some good pics and diagrams in it that show all the hose, line, and emission routings. If ya can't find it, I can burn ya a disk and pop it in the mail, or extract the relevant page(s) and email 'em to ya. :)
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Guys, thanks for the input. The fellow in the 2nd post (Hcrizt) did us up good. He sent me photos of the plumbing on the bike - an unmolested original - priceless.

Thanks again to all!

Gordon
