Is this supposed to look like this?
« on: September 25, 2007, 05:12:40 PM »
Pictured below, at the link, is a gear from the tranny of my K0 750 project. I expect to address the rust - I split the cases only today and I am still evaluating. What I am unsure of is the notch on the gear teeth. It looks uniform to all of them, but that doesn't mean it's not wearing out evenly. Is that notch supposed to be there? This is the second gear in from the bearing on the upper tranny, from the right, as the engine sits upside down.

After having to remove the clutch basket with a rubber hammer, I'm not sure what else will be different from my K5 750. I don't remember notches on any of those gears.

Yes it is supposed to be notched to fit into the other gear.  see my tranny on my page: http://www.basd.net/staff/aentz/CB750/CB750_page.htm

Thanks, Sparty. I've been following your progress. That is going to be a beautiful machine. You're at the part I like best. Just before you're done; anticipating the first ride.

My project will not compete with yours. It will be stock, it will be very clean, it run well and I think I can polish that well, but...

Have you posted pictures of your fully constructed bike yet?

It isn't fully completed yet.  A few small things to do here and there.  I will have many pics when finished.
