'77 Hondamatic
« on: September 26, 2007, 06:48:06 PM »
I found my winter project a little early this year and got it home tonight. Now I need some help. It's a 77 750 Hondamatic. The po was told that the stator was bad and proceeded to take it apart without actually knowing if it was bad. I brought the bike home in 4 boxes...it looks like everything is there but I'm still checking. My question: what are the chances that it is actually bad? I haven't heard of too much stator problems on the k and f models. Although the A has a different stator,it only has 14,000 miles on it and physically looks good....I haven't had a chance to check it with an ohm meter. Any thoughts?
Its a rough piece, but I'll be riding it in the spring.  I'll post some pictures as I go along.
  Thanks.......Paul

The automatic 750's are notorious for fuse block overheating and need monitoring. Theres some fix on the internet if you search.

Yep, already found a melted fuse holder on my preliminary look. Thanks for the response.

05c50, Is the bike you are showing as your icon yours?  It looks like a modified 750, am I correct?

Can you post some pics and tell us what you did to get that really nice look?

The bike in the icon is my winter project from 3 years ago. It's a 1980 CB650c. I restored to stock, but my son wanted something different,so I "chopped" it. Some people really like it,some people question how I could ruin a perfect "stock bike". I had pictures in my gallery, but I can't access it anymore!??. There is still a stock picture of it in the "650" gallery. There's a couple pictures of the bike with bags and windshield on at http://www.geocities.com/dangabor/
It's a lot of fun to ride, very comfortable and an eye catcher.
