I haven't heard anything, but I don't see why Nakano would ride for the Gresini team when he's got the Konica sponsorship and his own ride.  He's the only rider on that team and brings the Japanese sponsors to the game.  I guess Gresini could field 3 riders if Konica pulled out.

Elias is probably the most entertaining guy to watch out there.  He'll pitch it sideways like he's riding on dirt and stuff it up the inside of Rossi or anybody else.  I think with the right team and tires he could be the next surprise like Stoner.

KR needs to do some work in the off season.  First thing I'd do is get another rider to develop that bike.  Get Kenny Jr. back or hell, get Gary McCoy.  I'd rather see anybody riding than Kurtis.  He can't keep a ride in AMA racing and he's got no business being in MotoGP.  While on the subject, am I the only one who can't stand Hopkins?  He's riding well this year, but he just rubs me the wrong way - too many temper tantrums.

Ilmor kind of fell off the earth didn't they?  I'd imagine they need some good finanical backing before they make another run at the grid.

Last I heard, Elias hasn't been signed yet.  De Angelis has.  I think the other seat will come down to Elias and Nakano.  If I was team boss, I think I would have to stick w/ Elias.  Nakano has done almost nothing since being in the top class.  Granted it could be the teams he has been on, but when do you ever see him on screen making gutsy moves?  Elias is definitely fun to watch and can occasionally ride up front, but Melandri managed to put the Gresini Honda on top of the box many times.  Maybe being a satelitte team Melandri gets all good hand me down parts first.  Who knows?  TSFLSTB brings up a good point, Nakano is Japanese and could bring additional support to Gresini if they take him.

Mr. Nepotism (aka KR, Sr.) should call it a day.  If not, Gary McCoy would be an awesome choice.  A dirt tracker building a bike for a dirt tracker.  Of course they would have to have an engine supplier and tire supplier that would support that type of riding style.  Unfortunately, I don't think the 800cc's have enough low down grunt anymore.  Very sad what they are doing the Premier class.

Ilmor?  Ilmor who?   ;)

So De Angelis has been signed huh? I'm not sure what to think off that yet.....

I like Elias' style too, a bit of a maniac on the bike without beeing dangerous. I remember after Estoril 2006 even Rossi was impressed  :D

Elias and Melandri were on the same team but........Melandri was going to leave Honda in 2007 if he wasn't given a full factory RCV.
So while Melandri had the same bike as Pedrosa & Hayden this year, Elias was riding the "stock" RCV like Checa & Nakano.

Nakano didn't impress this year at all. Invisible. But I don't think Konica/Honda are as good as Gresini/honda or LCR/honda. He does have a very smooth style, with lots of cornerspeed.

To be fair Nakano was able to put the 990 Kawasaki way further up the field than it had any right to be, on more than one occasion. This year honda haven't managed to put a decent bike under the factory riders, the satellite guys don't stand a chance.

Team Roberts should either hang it up, or get a decent rider, Kenny Sr is always complaining that sponsorship is getting hard to come by, it's obviously never occurred to him that maybe these people don't want to p!ss their money away backing first off a Has Been, and then a Never Will Be ::)  I agree with tsflstb, a rider who can't even hold on to a ride at national level has no right being in the premier level :-\

PMSL at ieism - Elias, a bit of a maniac :o

That's like saying Pedrosa is a bit of a miserable git, or Raul is a bit of a no-show ;)

Amen Brother!  How can sponsors take you seriously when you run consistently at the back of the field and you put your own family in the saddle.  I've never really liked any of the Roberts and most of that stemmed from KR, Sr. and mainly his never ending #$%*ing about Freddie Spencer running him off the track in Sweden which later led to Spencer winning the World Championship.  That as 34 years ago and it's called 'RACING"... let it go!

I honestly think there is something wrong w/ KR, Sr.  You are dumping all this money into, to date, a losing effort (although last year showed some promise) and your putting your own sons on the bike?  When is Mrs. Roberts going to get her chance?

;D True.. I've heard a guy describing Elias as Jack Nicholson in the Shining, but on a bike. I thought that was a pretty acurate desciption. A bit of a maniac.
