Carbtune
« on: July 16, 2005, 04:08:19 AM »

I borrowed my brother-in-law's Carbtune unit a few weeks ago to synchronize the carbs on my 1976 CB750.  This thing sure beats the old Mercury filled units.   One of the 5mm Honda adapters would not screw into my carbs. I sent an email to Carbtune and they sent out a replacement free of charge - great service.  If you are in the market for a carb sync tool, give these guys a look - http://www.carbtune.com/

Hey! That looks fantastic. I like the selection of other items, too, from body armor to ear plugs ... it looks like surplus from a Bond movie.

Anyone else out there had experience with this device? I was up late last night reading the clymer books description of builiding your own Manometer, and just did not feel up to the challenge -- a hundred bucks seems like a reasonable investment ...

Unless there is a rousing outcry against this thing, I may be their next lucky customer.

I use a Carbtune on my '70 CB750. Fantastic. Works best if you make sure it is absolutely vertical. Otherwise the stainless rods may stick a bit.

As for service. I lost one of my 'O' rings, so I emailed carbtune. A week later I had an envelope with 4 new ones....FREE.

There are instructions for a homebuilt device like the carbtune at
http://www.rrr.de/~franky/moppel/synchro.html

-It's in German, but the pictures speak for themselves; under the small horizontal wooden boards are "diameter reducers"- short lengths of tube of a smaller diameter than the long outer tubes.

There's also a nice CJ360 classic racer project documented at
http://www.rrr.de/~franky/index.html

Cheers, Remi
