A quick look at the map shows about 500 miles between Weyburn and Lloydminster with Douglas Prov. Pk. on Lake Diefenbaker close the the middle?

Me and my nephew are planning a little run to Fort Qu'Appelle sometime this summer. Never been to Douglas Park.

I'm not sure what the temp was today, but the city was out clearing the drains as the streets were starting to flood.... bwaaa haaaa haaaaaaaa.

Another question - do you guys usually plate your bikes as an antique?

I would if I could...SGI lady told me bikes do not qualify...but if she was wrong I'd be quite happy to pay $120 a year or whatever it is. Fort is only an hour from where I'm at in the summer so let me know. Spring is coming...but I don't expect to be riding until the end of the month at least the way this winter has been...but one can hope.

That's odd. Being 30 years old last year, the 1978 750F3 qualified for some type of different designation, not sure it was called antique. The monthly payments (AutoPay) to SGI were $8.84. The total loss insurance does not factor in current market value, $800. max I think, so its really liability insurance you get.

Oh wow I would love that...she's well past 30 years old now...much nicer than the $40+ a month I paid last year. Do you know what it was called because I sure tried to get it like I do for my 1972 Maverick ($118 a year) but no luck? I'm not worried about having the cost of the bike covered, just want to be covered in case of accident (although my 33 year old front brake pad does still seem to work well). Thanks.

Your suggestion of meeting up in North battleford seems to work best so far Dave. Im sure all of us can find some sort of nice twisty roads in that area. Lets try to set a tentitive plan for date...Sometime in June or July?

My '74 was $99 total this year. When I first got the bike, SGI agent said bikes don't qualify for antique status and wanted $400+. I said, "Thats funny, because the SGI website allows me to enter it in as an antique." So she asked a co-worker and the other lady said 'yes they do'.

She did mention that if it got stolen, I wouldn't get anything for it as the deductable would be more than the bike listed value, but thats okay. It probably would have been the same as with the $400 plates.

Check into it and save some bucks.

Every few months I look at the Saskatchewan Motorcycle Association website. I see there is a swap meet next Sat. at the Heritage Pavilion in Moose Jaw. Anyone been to one of these?

I have been to a couple here in Lloyd. Basically all they are is a large garage sale for car and bike parts...usually a great way to find great deals on those hard to find parts for your projects.

I took the stereo pod off mine. After 3000 km on the GL last summer, I think I like it at least as well as the CB.

some late breaking news from North battlefort.

i happened to be in NB last week with a friend from saskatoon. we were driving down the main drag and it had been many years since I had been there. I came awake when I recognized the "Beaver Hotel" or apparently what used to be the "Beaver". No, the name has changed but it's still the same place. Everybody used to get a laugh out of the neon sign on top of the building which announced in bold blue letters " EAT AT THE BEAVER".
They just don't make them like that any more.

The question of time zones always comes up about this time of the year. A small town near us (Creston) has solved the problem. You just move the time zone about thirty miles. So this takes place twice a year and all you need is a screwdriver to take the sign down and move it to the other post. Saves all that time changing clocks etc. Pacific Time, Mountain Time, who cares.
