Re-wiring mess
« on: October 08, 2007, 06:50:16 AM »
I need help with pics if possible.

I am attempting to install a new wiring harness in a 1978 CB 750F.  I have the electrics in OK, but I am inside the headlight bucket now and what a disaster.  Not good at schematics and hoping someone out there will have photos of wiring where the controls (starter switch, Light switch) hook into the wiring harness.

If you have photos I would really appreciate the help.

Also, there are 3 wires coming from the wiring harness near the coils (but not the coil hookups) that I cannot figure where they go.

Any help would really be appreciated!

Thanks

Dave R

The wire colors will tell you a lot.  There is an article in the electrical FAQ on this site that will tell you what system a wire belongs to based on it's color.  Also look on

www.oldmanhonda.com

for an interactive wiring diagram.  The colors will be close.

The best tip I can give you on sorting out electrics is work with one wire, one connector, one system at a time.  When that one is done, move on to the next  You simply can't wrap your mind around the entire job at once.

If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Sorry Dave, I can't help you.  I'm dealing with basically the same issues (except mines a K).  Hope you don't mind, but I thought I'd piggyback on this thread...

I'm going the cafe route, and have eliminated quite a bit of electronics (turn signals, horn, indicator lights).

Since the wiring is almost 30 years old, I'm considering pulling it all and starting from scratch.  Anyone ever done this?  Was it pretty simple (relative term) vs. What nightmare would I be facing?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks
Kyle
