November bike of the month nomination poll
« on: October 01, 2007, 06:51:49 AM »
congratulations to bwaller on october's SOHC4 of the month win!

too bad we're already getting into these dreaded winter months but hey... more garage time right?  :-\

this is the place to nominate a great SOHC4.  after seeing rxmangriff 's 750 yesterday... it is definitely worth nomination.  2nd?

here's a pic from yesterday's "colorado fall ride"... rx's 750 is the blue one closest to you.
Today: '73 cb350f, '96 Ducati 900 Supersport

Guys, I'm really humbled (if that can happen to me  ::)). That's my baby and has been since 3/75 when I bought it new from Pug Vicker's Honda in Huntingdon, TN. I've beat the #$%* out of it, blown it up, and it's been with me longer than 2 marriages (and working on the 3rd and last) and 2 Harleys (recent phenomenom) AND it's still with me. It's going to the grave with me. It's why I spend so much time with all you guys. Well worth it. Thanks for all your friendships and thanks for the nomination Heff and you too Sam. I'm in!

ps I was hoping to visit with Sam but I didn't win the Led Zeppelin tickets at the O2 on 11/26/07 BUT I'd be willing to take them off anyone's hands that won the drawing. hint hint  ;D

I'm going to have to nominate edosm's bike for the third consecutive time. It's too sweet a bike not too.

I'll second edosm's,  I've voted for him a couple of times, and think it's a very original take on a SOHC4

Is that the one you bought from the dealer across town after the crotchety old guy didn't wanna sell you one because he didn't wanna put it together that day?

If so, HILARIOIUS story, but I still feel kinda bad for the old guy because he wound up putting it together anyway, only to not make the sale.  Oh well, ya snooze, ya lose.  ;D

It's hard not to vote for such a nice bike when you've seen it in person and know the owner who bought it when it was new.  I've never owned a new bike, but when I do, I hope I can keep it for as long, and in as good of shape as Jerry's. :)

Thanks Gordon. After seeing what you've done with your 750 that means a lot!

GG - I'd forgotten I'd posted that. Yeah, we referred to him as Old Man Evans at Evans Honda in Paducah, KY. Wouldn't work on my old beater 350 and wanted me to buy a new bike. I had 18 $100 bills in my hand too, which is what I paid for it. He wouldn't budge unless I spotted him 1 more. Guess he messed with me one time too many.

I will definitely give Jerry's bike a 2nd confirmation and my vote. He's poured a lot of time and money into the engine and is about to do more. It will go as good as it looks --

Wow, that's insane! Original owner! You've had that bike 9 years longer than I've been alive, haha! For that bike to look as good as it does you've definitely taken fine care of her. It's one thing for most all of us to restore one of these bikes and bring it back from the grave, but it honestly blows my mind that a person can keep a machine like that in such pristine (at least from the photos) shape after all this time!

Well, you can be sure that you are older than I am.  You must have been at least 15 when I was born.

Well, OK so it was just 15 months.  You are still older.
