Saying hello from beautiful NJ (haha)
« on: September 30, 2007, 09:39:47 PM »
Hello SOHC friends (I hope),
New to the world of SOHC Hondas, have a little experience working on CBXs.  I had originally been looking for an older 750 to ride while I rebuild an early 90's Ninja (long story), and always loved the lines of the CB.  However, thanks to the wonderful wiki here at SOHC/4, I realized that what I really wanted was one of the smaller bikes.  So, for the past month, I have been looking around, trying to find my match.  Finally, earlier tonight I did: a 1977 CB550F3 (blue).  Already stoked to do some small modifications to it (dual disk, some cosmetics and resto) and eager to start contributing to the forum.  I tend to be a bit of a documentation freak, so I hope to add to the already impressive list of tech articles.  If anyone has suggestions for a new owner, I would love to hear em!  Also, I am starting a Videolog of my adventures in CB ownership (and life in general) over on LiveVideo, so I should have some cool vids to add in the coming months.  Anyway, just trying to fulfill my new member responsibilities, thanks for reading!

Oh, I know of your Mr. Vegas (the user name is a little nod to a comment from a fat motoring journalist referring to him).  I am in central NJ, in the beautiful college city of New Brunswick.  I should have the bike roadworthy by then (although I tried to pick it up from the PO earlier this evening to no avail, 121 mile drive each way wasted).  If you are in the area and would like to catch a pint, I would be more than happy to welcome a new friend from overseas.

Thanks for the offer but I will struggle to meet up, my daughter lives in NW NJ near Sussex, if you are up there for a ride during my stay no problem. I am interested in the story behind your username, perhaps you could relate it in the post about usernames.
