Looking for a book... Can you help?
« on: November 25, 2007, 08:40:42 AM »
I've been looking for a book that is out of print (with no success)... The title is:

Original Honda CB750 by John Wyatt

I'd even take a copy of the book (.PDF) or photocopy.  If you've got and want to part with it, send me a note.

Thanks

Don't tease me Raul!  You got the goods or you just pullin' my chord, man?

I am motivated to get the book but not stupid about it.  The last time I looked for it, it was available in "bumble-#$%* Egypt" for about $60.00 (US).

It appears from time to time on Ebay and other places.  I've seen it go for more than $100.

There's 2 for sale on amazon.ca. However priced at 180.00 and 266.00 in Canadian $.  The one for 266 is located in Oregon so at least you will save the extra 1% on the exchange rate. :D  :D ;)                                                                   http://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/1901432130/ref=sr_1_olp_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1196016621&sr=1-2

For those who have read this book, how does it compair to Mick Duckworth's?

Duckworths's is very authoritative too, but lacks detail in the restoration section. The Wyatt book gives more detail in the small details like short chainguards and the like -even if I have discovered in this forum a lot of things unique to the earlier models that are not covered in Wyatt's.

Furthermore, Wyatt's book format, size and pictures, are more entertaining from my point of view. It has been some time since I read both but I recall Duckworth's had more press and official pictures, while Wyatts had lots of original pictures from restored and unrestored bikes.

If you could read german, there is a great book written by Reinhard Hopp. "CB750, die Geschichte einer Legende" -CB750, the story of a legend -loose translation- It also lacks the amount of original pictures on Wyatt's book, but it is very authoritative too and have lots of pictures.

PDF or photocopy? Suffice to say when I read mine I passed the pages barely touching them to avoid staining the paper with my fingerprints. There is no way on earth I would punish the book's spine by scanning it. I could take a picture of each page though, but with a 3 Mp camera the result would not be that good.
