Late arriving CB 750 K7 owner....
« on: August 26, 2007, 12:25:58 AM »

Greetings one and all, I've been lurking in the shadows the past couple weeks and decided it was high time for me to make my impression felt, so here goes nothing.

Well, I just recently purchased my first CB 750, it's a K7, the general concensus here on the board seems to be rather negative when it comes to the K7's and 8's but I've had her for almost two weeks now and I like her just fine, so she's a little greasy and her tanks kind of chubby, fat bikes need love too!

My intention is to transform what was once a touring bike into a fire breathing dragon of a cafe racer, I actually purchased the bike from a great guy who just so happens to be a member here on SOHC4, I believe his handle was\is Huntman65, he had the bike up for sale a month or so back. Anyhow, I've been drooling over Steve "Carpy" Carpenter's work, the guy is simply amazing as I'm sure you're all well aware of, he takes these "snotty" as he says CB's and transforms them into beautiful works of art, the man is a genius as far as I'm concerned.

I've been trolling through the archives looking for little tid bits of info and simply put the close, tight knit community here never ceases to amaze me, the willingness of the vet's here to help out the "newbs" is great, there doesn't seem to be such a thing as a silly or stupid question here and the lack of pretentiousness and condecension is definitely a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the other sites I've been to, Kudos to all on that one!

If I'm stuck and about ready to pull my hair out I can just take a deep breath, exhale and count to ten and consult this here page and have an educated and fully informed answer in no time flat and I thank you all for that.

So, Ton up to all and to all a good night!

Well, I'm 26 and I still have a bit of a rebellious streak in me so, for now cafe is the only way to fly, perhaps somewhere down the line after years and years of eating bugs and 100 mph winds at my chest I'll chop her, but then again maybe not, it remains to be seen.

Thanks again for the bike, not to mention your honesty and willingness to take a couple payments. You're a hell of a guy Marty, don't ever let anyone tell you different.

"welcome,k7`s are cool." true but not as cool as K8's!

As for the lack of condecension and pretentiousness....well you couldn't have been snooping around here THAT long...lol...we are sorta like your typical family. Supportive but not afraid to sneak in a shot every now and then...

Dennis

P.S. welcome to the madness!

I own a K8 and what you see is envy. We have the refined 750, they ironed out all the wrinkles on those early experiments.  ;D
Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Hey Cafe Ole! Im so new that I dont even know what K or F means!! I have a 78 supersport that is going to look freakin #$%*in when Im done with her, and I have had the odd person welcome me but say that I should have bought an older cb.....but what ever, to each their own! I have a vision, and have been inspired by Carpy [and helped out by him, he is a really nice bloke!] and when I debut my little cafe I will have the last laugh on the 40,000 harley chopper guys as I tell them that I have 2000 and some elbow grease invested!!
As a side note, my family lives in Clovis! I used to live there for a shoet time as well. My mother has been a teacher in Clovis for years, and I come up there several times a year. When my cafe is done I cant wait to take her up there and ride to Humphreys Station for a little breakfast!
I just sold my old vespa to a family friend in Clovis, so if you see an old guy on a really nice black and orange p200 give him a wave! I also have a family friend that works at Wilsons if you need help or parts!
Good luck from Las Vegas
