More bikes then brains, a guy from Minnesoooodah.

Probably about time I introduced myself a bit!

I’m a 21-year-old college student pursuing a degree in elementary education.  I hail from Bemidji, MN, up north ya’ know!  Asked the parents if I could get a bike when I was 18 and mom said no.  Turned 19 and pulled into the driveway with a 95 RF900, Dad was happy to take it for a spin.  Been hooked ever since.  Sold that bike a few summers ago for tuition money, and picked up a 76’ 750F this spring.  I make my old man ride his 2006 Heritage Softtail Classic next to me, I lead, ha ha!

It was a runner to begin with, but rough around the edges, this picture I stole from the owner makes her look like a diamond, instead of the turd she was, cracked cases, dented tank, Cherry bomb exhaust off a car that mauled up the headers bad, no sidecovers (imagine that).  Anyway, it had a clear title (bikes that don't are a pain in MN), and I really like this model of Honda so $750 bucks later I was hauling back in the pickup.

Stripped it down, replaced the left engine cover among other things, gave it a spray bomb paintjob with some hammered finish paint to cover up the minor imperfections.  Plan on giving it a little more attention this winter.  I like the simple, stock appearance it has now.  The elephant ear blinkers had to go however, as well as the reflective seat striping.

A couple weeks ago I picked up a 74 K4, plan on redoing that to mostly original.  (The bike from the “Forget the Million Dollar CB” thread.)  Not much more than Drag bars and a café styled vinyl seat.  The 4 into 4 pipes are looking like garbage with rust through, so right now I’m looking at exhaust options while rebuilding the carbs.

Anywho, besides my stable of turds I rock climb, mountain bike, hunt, fish, snowboard, etc.  I also have a restored 1949 Willys CJ-2A that keeps these SOHC bikes company in the garage.  I’ll dig around for some pictures of that beast too.

Cell phone pictures (too lazy to charge the real camera), beware!

Nice bike! I bought one brand new in 1976, mine was yellow though. I wish that I still had it. Good job on it.

My '76 F is from Minnesota, as well.
Had to thaw it out--belonged to a snow mobile shop west of Minneapolis.
It runs better down here in Virginia !

Welcome, whitt!

I was in your area about 15 years ago picking up my gilfriend from her folks' place around Blackduck (I shoulda left her there). Very cool area. Except for the mosquitoes. I'll get back up there someday and try to enjoy myself. ;)

Welcome again!
