cb 500 Exhaust (SITO?)
« on: October 03, 2007, 07:08:25 AM »
Hi!

I really like the look of DME's cafe racer with the SITO Exhaust. I sent them an email how their CB500 mufflers are looking but got no reply.
Does anyone have a clue if it looks like the Cb750 Version (as pictured at the bottom) or could try to get in touch with a SITO dealer as the austrian dirtributor shows no motivation to help me out.

DME's Racer with the Sito exhaust:

PS: May be it would be possible to fit the 750 mufflers on my 500 with some bending and trying ...

You might want to check out Benjie's stainless steel 4-2 exhausts for the 550.  Similar look except the muffler is a peashooter variety.  Stainless should be very nice.  A few members here have bought his stuff but I can'nt vouch for quality.

I have seen benjis exhaust and would love to own one but the price tag is a bit high. The second problem is shipping, customs and the tax which is added at importing from the USA to the EU!

Hello don

You could try to look in davidsilverspares.com in england. bringing one from there is tax free.

+ I live in milano, so if you want me to give sito a call in italian, let me know.

last, parmesano like the cheese? because if yes, it should be Parmigiano... at least in italian :-)

may be a call is overkill but could you send them an email in italian if they can send you a picture or a drawing of the CB500 exhaust muffler they are listening? It would be really nice if you could do me this favour!

In german it's "Parmesan" and I can remember a comercial from my child days where the advertised an already grated Parmigiano (a sin in itself) as "DonParmesano der geriebene Bursche" which means something like "DonParmigiano the grated fella". I choose the name because I LOVE italian food and found it a funny reference to "The Godfather" from Puzo.

this is going to sound a little weird but....have you tired your local vespa shop? SITO makes a lot of vespa exhausts and most dealers stock their stuff (which means they have access to a parts catalog and distributor).

so thats the SITO cb500 Exhaust (1218):

I don't know if I reallly like the looks of it because it seems to sit very low on the bike.

Hello DonP

Now that you posted the pics I realized that i know this system..... was on my CB500 before I turned it into a racer and put a 4-1 on.

They give a rather clean look like in the picture you posted but I must say I wasnt very impressed by the quality, the silencers were completly rotten on mine although I have no idea for how long the bike has been sitting and where before I got it with those SITO's

+ that strange 2 into one junction doesnt look like it'll do wonders to the power, but if you are into normal riding that shouldnt be much of  a problem.

Send me a personal message with anything you want translated and I'll do my best.

A presto

Hi DonP

Got only  a printed pic of my bike with those SITO's but my scanner is not working....

under the engine they pass as in the CB750 picture you got.

the main diffrence is that the silencers do not go up as high as in that 750. The end of the silencers is about the height of the rear wheel axle while in that CB750 they go much higher.

Now that I saw the picture I have to admit thay dont look so sporty.... prety similar to the stock system,

Thanks for the kind answer Turboguzzi (my next project bike will be a moto guzzi).

If you get your scanner working or you get near a digicam capture the picture and put it up on here please!

I just plain LOVE the sporty look of the pipes in the picture! My first try will be to modify the stock exhaust like DME did (have a look at his gallery). If I am not able to get a result I like, I think I will try to get the 750 SITO exhaust working on my 500.

best regards
Peter

Indeed, if you look closely you'll see that the silencers of the CB500 SITO system have much longer "ears" than the CB750 so they indeed sit lower. Hope you dont run into collector pipes diameter issues though, cant believe that the 750 and 500 have the same diameter pipes.

In any case, good luck with it

I am starting this winter to work on my Le-Mans III, so let me know if you need anything from Mandello del Lario. I go there often to get bits from Stucchi.

Cheers

The 750 seems to have about 35mm collector pipe diameter and the 500 about 32 mm if I remember correctly. Not much of a problem to compensate this.

If I am able to get my Cb500 up and running during this winter I will sell my Aprilia RSV-R next spring and go out shopping for a Le-Mans I to III.
So if that plan works out you'll definitly hear from me!

Thankls for your kind help!

best regards
Peter
