clicking through gears
« on: July 16, 2005, 11:55:50 PM »
Hi, My bike makes nice loud solid clicks when switching through gears. Does it supposed to be like that on 78 750f or does it mean that my clutch or tranny needs service? - thanks ! - serge
if it ain't broken it does not have enough features yet..

My cb400f makes a light click as it goes through the gears. If this is as heavy as a 'clunk' I wonder if your clutch is clearing fully? It might be worth setting the clutch adjustment very carefully.

The 750s did make a fair amount of noise going through the gears. The problem is that everyone defines "clunk" differently!  If it shifts cleanly while moving with no of few misses, then it should be ok.
You may just need to do small adjustments, change oil if it has been a while, or pull the clutch apart and clean it.
