I personally suspect Terry, that the bike is the same in both pics, but your K0 ended up with it's original pipes ;)

I am, as ever of course, fully prepared to be proven wrong ;D
[/quote]

Yeah, you might be right mate, it may well be that my K0 is now just wearing the pipes, carbs, seat, handlebars, switches, front forks, front wheel, front brakes, rear shocks, etc etc off Andy's sandcast in the "before" pic, so I'm sure you can understand my mistake.

Well I suppose that in a way, the "before picture" is still my bike, less the sandcast engine and frame, ha ha!  But seriously, my apologies to Andy. Cheers, Terry. :)
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

i wouldnt be against designing some sort of tryptich for your K0, andy's and the one bike that birthed both.  could be kinda cool, and would definately illustrate the spirit of our international community of people helping each other make good after shots.

if anyone knows someone on the forum who has a well documented resto or rebuild, please do us a favor and point them to the thread for their consideration.  or tell me who and i will do the pming

thanks to everyone who has submitted so far,

That Dunstall is VERY nice, and worthy of a place in the calendar, methinks?  ;D

nice work Superbiker & Fuzzball, and thanks for playing.

progress report
Sparty's 750 Cafe:  need a pic of the new and improved hot rod version
ProTeal's 450: NOT a SOHC and not a 4  :-[
Andy's Sandcast 750 resto:  no longer embroiled in controversy
Canyon750's 'modified' 750F:  don't call it a ratbike
Kieths' 350 resto:  beautiful and potentially making its second appearance in an SOHC calendar
Doug Id's 550 cafe:  first cafe submitted (sparty's was conscripted)
Cyclone's 750 Chopper:  most original submission so far (IMHO)
Superbiker_UK's Dunstall Cafe'd 750:  Terry likes it, it's in!
Fuzzball's half-caf 750:  very nicely done

So far that makes nine, including two bikes that were in last year's calendar, and a DOHC twin... lots of 750s here, which is to be expected, but so far no two bikes would be mistaken for each other.  I would like to see more choppers and more anything of the medium and small fours variety, but have no problem including everyone who has submitted so far if I don't get that kind of variety.

I will let the submissions come in for the next month and then close the submissions and set up a vote if neccessary on November 10th.  This should give everyone enough time to submit, and give me enough time to make and distribute the calendar before the new year.

K+K your doing a great job. The bikes you've selected so far are assume. Should be a great calander, just to bad everybody can't have a chance to buy one!! I don't know why the forum couldn't sell 2 different calanders and make more money???  ???

Submission #10 has come in via email from Derek- unsure of his sohc4.net handle- and is another beautifully done twin, this time with the appropriate amount of cams.  this is another nail in that rule's coffin as far as i am concerned.

as for calendars for sale- i would feel weird making money off of other peoples hard work, in the form of the submissions as well as this site.  I am more than happy to provide Heffay with the finished product in the form of files that he could print and distribute, but we havent heard from him on this.  In the event that he does not want to go through the process of assembling and distributing another calendar i would be fine with making these files available on the site for DIY printing, but then this might cut into the BOTM calendar sales.  I should really PM Heffay and get his input here...

Great work on the calendar idea KK. I like the before and after slant very much. This is indeed fun.
Hope my little project can make the cut. It could be difficult to judge once all the entries are in.

I like the handle you thought of fer mine: "Half Caf" You got a flair for such things---a real talent, and might I say that I admire your initiative and your taste in avatars....and is that a new tie? very nice...and listen, I've got a pair of 50 yard line tickets to the next Ravens home game, just in case you're interested...we'll talk, you know, my people will get with yours...I'm sure we can work something out...

One small correction Klark, Doug's bike is a 550 8) not one of them common ass 750s ;)

I wish I could enter mine, I've got plenty of before shots, but no afters :(  Something to do with it being a work in progress ;D

Grumburg- that is one sweet s90 resto, and you have now joined the ranks of talented as$holes making me rethink arbitrary ground rules.  :P congratulations.  ;D

one more arbitrary ground rule:  one (1) before shot and (1) after shot per person.  pick the best one so i don't have to.  ;)

Actually, it's a "Benly 90".   Japanese home-market bike. Japanese markings, metric speedo, rotary shifter, full chainguard, turn signals, and right-hand mirror only. Only have 1 plastic Benly 90 tank badge, would give my right n+t for another one. Have searched the world with no luck.  Thanks for the back-handed complement, (I think ???)

Hey KK, I want to submit my K1 "Kruiser", but as I've built it entirely from unrelated parts starting with a bare frame with no swingarm given to me by another SOHC4 member, I don't (can't) have a before pic? Has anyone got a pic of a really ratty K1 I can use for a "before" pic?  :-\ ;D

How's about a stock (originally a Japanese domestic market model) SOHC '74 550...

Before..

And after.. replaced seat with an original, acquired a rear grab bar, new mufflers, complete strip own - repaint frame and engine etc.

thanks for the submissions guys,
and just a reminder that the higher the resolution the more likely you are to be selected.

i wanted to post an even afterer shot of superbiker_uk's dunstall and ask him to let me know if he wants me to use the previous after shot instead- because my personal preference is for the black with half fairing.  definately what i would have built in the 70s if i wasnt sperm.

oh and nobody has offered, but i will say it anyway, anyone caught offering terry a false before shot will be shot.
thanks to all

It would be an honour to be in the calendar with either bike - if you like the latest version best then use this one. I personally like the new incarnation as it is much more original. By the way that is not black paint on those panels, it is the original black gel coat finish! Thanks KK !

Every submission so far has been one i would be proud to photoshop up into a calendar (with the exception of the Kruiser, which lacks resolution and a before shot.  but something tells me terry will not be heartbroken.)  so i have to throw out another thank you to the submitors, and terry for the occasional bump.  That said, heres where we stand:

progress report
1)Sparty's 750 Cafe:  need a pic of the new and improved hot rod version
2)ProTeal's 450: NOT a SOHC and not a 4
3)Andy's Sandcast 750 resto:  no longer embroiled in controversy
4)Canyon750's 'modified' 750F:  don't call it a ratbike
5)Kieths' 350 resto:  beautiful and potentially making its second appearance in an SOHC calendar
6)Doug Id's 550 cafe:  first cafe submitted (sparty's was conscripted)
7)Cyclone's 750 Art-Chopper:  most original submission so far (IMHO)
8)Superbiker_UK's Dunstall Cafe'd 750:  Terry likes it, it's in!  and now even better in black
9)Fuzzball's half-caf 750:  very nicely done
10)Derek's 350 scrambler resto: too pretty to deny
11)Grumburg's benly 90:  now with much more compelling after photo, (can you say shoe-in for a fall month)
12)MrZyp's nicely cleaned up Jap550: more rescued than restored, but well done all the same

That's enough to make a calendar, but I would like to have backups if I can't use some of the pics for resolution reasons.  I also know there are lots of really impressive builds about and want to see more- even though i know this will make my job as selector, much, much harder.   So I will end this progress report with a very foolish call for more submissions.
