550 Handlebar Mods
« on: October 06, 2007, 03:08:12 PM »
I want to clean up the bars and controls a bit and want to get some ideas from you guys.

Bars - I'll probably go with the drag bars
Speedo / Tacho - Looking for other options cause I ride a bit at night and want brighter
Mirrors - I like the Napoleons
Levers - I want a more modern look like this:

So, if I do that, what do I do about the electrical controls.  Any ideas on separate aftermarket controls?  I can't really use old levers cause with mirror gone, the holes are any eyesore.

I have to rebuild forks with new seals and oil, since they are leaking.  I plan to do all the updating at the same time.  Any other front end mods I should consider while I've got everything taken apart.  I've flipped thru the galleries, but not a lot of closeups of what I'm looking for.  Please feel free to share pics of some clean looking setups so I can get some ideas.  Thanks!!!

use a clutch perch and master cylinder from a gsxr 750, they have the modern look without the holes for the mirrors.

When I converted to modern master cylinder and clutch levers I used a universal dual sport sinal switch found on ebay.

Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MINI-MOTORCYCLE-TURN-SIGNAL-HEADLIGHT-SWITCH-DUAL-SPORT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35594QQihZ004QQitemZ140165784289QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

For the starter switch I used a switch unit from a Honda RC51. They all work great.
