Thoughts of Heresy - Save Me
« on: August 25, 2008, 04:54:32 PM »
Remember Flip Wilson "the Devil made me do it?"

A while back I sold my SR500 because I just wasn't riding it.  My 750Four was on the road every day for my commute, and the Yamaha sat most of the time.

Well, for some time now my '01 Sprint ST has been the work horse.  With the electronics and the fuel injection it starts right up, and off we go.  Gas mileage is good (45-51 mpg), and with the hard bags it does all the errands.  My Honda is only getting ridden for the occasional Sunday ride with the wife, when she is on her bike.  Two-up she prefers the Triumph; though we don't ride like that very much.  And, there is the project bike waiting to be finished and out on the road.  Of course, one can argue that then we'd have two triples, and that really would seem redundant. ::)

All that leads to thoughts....that I...can't bring myself to speak...or write....that maybe the SOHC is superfluous...and it should be out on the road in all it's historic glory...

I can't even say what seems to be a logical thought... :'(

Just venting for now, but this line of thinking has come up a few times in the past month.  Maybe I could ask some crazy price that no one would pay anyway.   But what if someone did?    ???

Well Mordy, if you need the money, sell it by all means, but if you don't, why not just park it in a corner of your garage with a blanket over it for the time being?

I don't like forking out 1600 bucks a year to keep three motorcycles on the road (actually 5 or 6 because I swap the plates around) but it's such a pleasure getting off one bike and firing another one up and getting used to riding it again, that it seems worthwhile?

On weekends in summer I'll fire up the BMW and take it for a 50 mile "loop", then jump on my Suzuki GS1000S for an alternate route, then finally I'll jump on the K1 or K0 (depending on which has the plate on it) for another 50 miler, each lap will involve stopping at a "pub" for a beer, it's a great day, and I never get bored riding just one bike! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I made an ass of myself some time ago like this.  Tear-stained posts saying "OOOH I'm so sad",  Ohhhh my head hurts", "Somebody stop me before I sell again!" stuff.
I ride my 400 way out to places even I don't know where I am and have a friend pick me up- somehow that dang bike finds it's way back.  It's like a nightmare- can't get rid of it.

So- my advice (tough love here.  Sorry, but someone has to say it);

     Shut up and sit down.

Love ya.  Mean it.  'Bye for now.  (call me!)
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Medic - I'm with Terry on this, if you don't need the money let it stand a while until you feel better, then uncover it, stand back and wait for the big smile that says that's my 'Classic Honda 4' there.

Uncle Ernie - Once again your words are pure poetry, keep it up you always brighten my day ;D

Nothing wrong with parking the bike for a while.  The thing I hate is when people park bikes and let them ruin.  There is a guy in my neighborhood that has a CB125s, not sure of the year, but it has been sitting out in the open in his back yard for about ten years, has not moved an inch.  I tried to buy it from him, but he won't have any of that.

I have parked mine a couple times when I got other bikes, but I always end up back with the 750.

Don't they still make the sprint or something like it?

I'm damn sure honda quit making the 750.  ;)

Even if they quit making the Sprint.....theres other bikes that will do what it does.

What replaces a SOHC honda?

Well, either you want it or you don't.  If you want it, keep it.  If you don't want it, sell it.  Pretty simple, eh?

You are welcome.  That'll be 50 dollars, please.
