Will it fit???
« on: October 09, 2007, 03:43:48 PM »
Will the Hight Hawk (mid 80's) star pattern rims be fit on a 75 750 SS? And if so how much machining will I have to do?

no and a lot.

Hawks use a single sided swingarm in the rear (if this is 650 hawk we are talking about) so you will be SOL on the rear unless you make the whole rear swingarm fit and convert to monoshock.

If you are talking about the comstars on the 450 hawk, the 77-78 supersports used the same style comstars and they adapt farily easily (if you use the entire front end and rear brake setup).
Maintenance Matters Most

thats them, not the comstars I have 2 sets of those, both original and reversed. I was looking for the 5 point stars. Saw them on a Nighthawk listed on Craigslist Portland. The whole bike was about 300 bucks so I thought they might go nice after some gold anodizing on my cafe. TThe bike didnt look like it had a single side swing arm, but I am not an expert.

Thats what I was thinking....probably beyond my skill level. I took the liberty of looking up dgfisher web site, and you had those rim in question in that blue Dunstell you have listed there. Those were what I saw. Where did you get them? On another note...how much engineering would it take to work out a CNC program to reproduce these kick ass designs in an All American wheel blank? Or have a just made the tip of the "nuts" list??

I think he's looking at the Nighthawk and not the Hawk. All the Nighthawks had the standard swingarms on them. Although, a Hawk swap would be interesting as well...
